Mohawks, in the form of braids, volume and even the original - shaved sides with a long straight strip down the center - are experiencing a recent resurgence in popularity. Stylist Robert Wilson used a Sam Villa Signature Series Sleekr flat iron to give Felicia Lester on the CW’s The Originals a Mohawk with a sleek strip.
“This was a fun look and we had a blast using the Sam Villa Sleekr. It heats up in seconds and on set sometimes that’s all we have!” explained Wilson. “Sam Villa Brushes are also fantastic; you can see every little flyaway with HD. His brushes smooth hair and make my life [and] job easier.”
Get the Look: Ironing a Mohawk
1. Apply Redken Iron Shape 11 Finishing Thermal Spray heat protectant hairspray to protect hair from heat up to 450 degrees of heat. A must have when using flat irons and curling irons; will not build up on tools.
2. On low heat, compress hair from the base to the ends with a slow pass to close the cuticle and straighten.
3. Finish with Redken Control Addict 28 Extra High Hold hairspray for 24 hour control against humidity; without residue or flaking.
