Hollywood Hair: Three Oscar-Worthy Looks Inspired by This Year's Nominees

Awards season, from the Golden Globes to the SAG Awards, is a time for celebrities to show off their most drop-dead gorgeous hair and beauty looks. With the biggest show of all, the Academy Awards, just around the corner, PRAVANA stylist Jamie Muniz has some tips on how to recreate some of the looks seen in this year's Oscar-nominated films. Whether your client is preparing for an awards-themed party, or you have a formal event of your own, these three looks are red carpet-ready.

1. Bombshell Roller Curls

Amy Adams exuded 1970's bombshell beauty in American Hustle, sporting luscious, voluminous curls. For this classic roller set look, start with NEVO Full Volume and a light spray of Invisible Control for heat protection, hold and fullness. Blow dry with a large, round brush. Using a set of medium hot rollers, set the hair in a horizontal pattern on top and through the back of the head, and set the sides of the hair in a slightly diagonal pattern. Allow to cool completely. Take the rollers out and spray lightly. Finally, brush through the sets and reform the ends of the curled strands with your hands lightly coated with a couple drops of NEVO Hydra Pearls.

2. Sophisticated 70's Topknot

In some of the final scenes of American Hustle, Best Supporting Actress nominee Jennifer Lawrence sported a stunning, sophisticated loose "topknot" style with plenty of 70's flair. To get the look, prep wet hair with NEVO Full Volume and Invisible Control. Rough dry for texture. With a large 1 1/2-inch barrel iron, curl the top of the hair horizontal and back, pulling the fringe section down to curl up and back. This gives the hair the added volume through the front. Set with a very fine and even mist of hairspray. Then, brush out the set and smooth the hair with a natural, soft, bristle brush. Separate out the fringe and secure remaining hair loosely in a ponytail a few inches away from the scalp. Holding a strand of hair from the center of the ponytail, push the elastic band towards the scalp, creating volume around pulled sides and back. Secure the elastic band tightly. Next, separate the ponytail and fold hair loosely around the elastic base, wrapping longer ends and securing with a bobby pin. For the remaining fringe, lightly back-comb while holding the hair down in front of you. Finally, while holding the ends, roll back and fasten, separating the front and securing with a bobby pin, and finish with Super Shape.

3. Sultry Blonde Vixen

Newcomer Margot Robbie stole every scene she was in in The Wolf of Wall Street, not only with her impressive acting skills, but with her sultry, vixen blonde look. To recreate the style, start by working a light spritz of Invisible Control onto dry hair for heat protection and light hold. Then apply 1-2 NEVO Hydra Pearl Drops through the mid-shaft and ends of the hair. Using a 1 - 1 1/2-inch barrel iron, take vertical sections and, holding the iron low, wrap the hair around the iron away from the face. Work around the head. Allow to cool, then shake out the set by taking fingertips and massaging the scalp from the temples up. This allows the partings and the curl nearest the base to loosen. Comb through curls lightly with fingertips and finish with a light spray.
