Q&A:
Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?
Brittany Goldberg (BG): I drive a 1980 Firebird with pink flames!
BLP: How did you get your start in the industry?
BG: After growing up being obsessed with hair, I decided to go to tech school. After finishing the cosmetology program there, I went on to work at a few different salons/chains. It wasn’t until I became a mother (almost 10 years later) that I feel I really took my career to the next level and really started taking things seriously. It was a lot of work and sacrifice, but it was worth every minute because it got me to where I am today!
BLP: What is your proudest achievement in the industry thus far?
BG: My proudest achievement has absolutely been opening my own salon! Being able to create a space where people feel welcomed, confident and beautiful is what makes me so proud of what I’ve built.
BLP: What advice would you give to the younger version of yourself just starting out in the industry, looking back on your whole career?
BG: Never stop educating yourself, and don’t be afraid to take risks!
BLP: What is your current favorite hair trend?
BG: I think prism hair is so versatile and beautiful but basically anything that involves vivids. Also, I love a good mullet!
BLP: What is a valuable hair tip that you want to share with your fellow stylists (whether it’s a business tip or something related to styling/working with hair)?
BG: Invest in yourself, and surround yourself with like minded people who encourage your growth. Also, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there!
BLP: What inspires your work?
BG: I definitely love to pull my inspiration from 80s punk/metal fashion and put a more modern twist on it.
BLP: What is something that keeps you passionate and motivated in the industry each day?
BG: I find that educating myself on current trends keeps me excited to be behind the chair. I find talking to other stylists/salon owners/educators really keeps me motivated to do better every day.
BLP: What changes would you like to see the industry make in order to grow/change/evolve/be better than it was before?
BG: I think it would be great if people took the beauty industry more seriously. We put a lot of skill and dedication into our work, and I feel that deserves recognition. I’d really just love to see more respect for our craft.
BLP: What is a career goal you have for yourself?
BG: One of my biggest goals currently is becoming an educator this year!
