Get the Look: Men's Hairstyles at the Oscars 2015

Celebrity groomer Diana Schmidtke, who styled Leading Actor Nominee Michael Keaton, shares the inside scoop on his look. She also weighs in on the other men in the category:

Apply a nickel-size amount of American Crew Fiber. Warm it up in your hands and apply to hair from front to back and back to front for even application. This step will thicken, texturize and increase the fullness of the hair.
Step 3: Finish with a light mist of hairspray such as R+CO to lock in the look.

Bradley Cooper:
“Bradley has longer hair right now, so for a longer-haired red carpet look it's always a great idea to push your hair back and away from your face. The red carpet is all about stepping it up and putting your best foot forward!”

Step 1: Start with clean, shampooed hair. While your hair is damp take a quarter-size amount of American Crew Firm Hold Styling Gel and distribute evenly.
Step 2: Lightly comb hair from back to front, keeping volume on top, but the sides slicked back.

Benedict Cumberbatch:
“Benedict went with a very classic and groomed look. It’s perfect. I like that the part is not obvious, but gentle and looks like he just ran his hands through his hair. This is a different look for him and he nailed it!”

Step 1: On wet hair, apply American Crew Firm Hold Styling Gel for ultimate hold and shine.
Step 2: To straighten, blow dry by flat wrapping hair using a denman brush, blow-drying hair from left to right, right to left.
Step 3: Once the hair is dry, if texture still exists, use a flat iron and take random sections to smooth out all hair.
Step 4: Apply a quarter-size amount of American Crew Pomade, warming it up in your hands and applying it to hair from front to back. American Crew Pomade will allow you to create a high shine look paired with American Crew Firm Hold Styling Gel’s long-lasting power.

For his fresh-faced look, Cumberbatch relied on more than just rest and good genes. All season long, Cumberbatch’s long-time groomer, Cathy Highland, has prepped him for on screen and off with great natural products from the Kerstin Florian MEN collection. For Oscars night, Highland used the Kerstin Florian Clarifying exfoliating scrub to prep his skin, daily hydrator for shine-free moisture, and the Raspberry extract, which soothes, calms and hydrates. Then, she finished him off with a little concealer and translucent powder.

Neil Patrick Harris
Celebrity groomer Sonia Lee created the look for Neil Patrick Harris last night at the Oscars using Montez Renault and Leonor Greyl products. Said Lee, “For Neil’s look tonight, we wanted to him looking as easy and natural as possible but still classic and sexy. He’s wearing this great custom Brunello Cucinelli grey cashmere tux with a satin shawl collar."

Get the Look:
Said Lee, "Before we started, I had Neil cleanse his face with Montez Renault Facial Cleanser. Then, I began by applying Tom Ford Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment around the eye contour. Next, I applied Montez Renault Facial Moisturizer on his skin with a foundation brush. I used the brush so it ensures an even application. I massaged in the moisturizer with my fingers after to ensure that it absorbed really well. I loved this moisturizer; it's so refreshing and the scent is amazing. It absorbs really quickly and is really light which is what most men prefer when using a moisturizer.

"I went back over his t-zone with Murad Face Mattifier to tamp down any shine and make sure he was camera ready. We also used Collyre Bleu Eye Drops so that his eyes look brighter and wouldn’t get dry when he’s on the red carpet. To finish off, I applied Montez Renault Moisturizing Body Lotion to his arms, hands, everywhere to keep his skin looking moisturized and healthy.

"For his hair, I started by warming up Leonor Greyl Éclat Naturel in my hands and applied it evenly and lightly all over his hair. This styling cream is a really great product because it gives the hair a little shine and makes it look really finished. Then, I used a flat iron to straighten out any fly-aways and went back with Leonor Greyl Baume Bois de Rose (launching April 2015) and used my fingers to create a bit of separation for a sexier look. The products smell amazing and so refreshing which is really great!”

Before Neil ran on stage in just his tighty-whiteys, he had to strip down super-fast to his underwear and Sonia had just enough time to apply Montez Renault Moisturizing Body Lotion on him. She loves the scent and the fact that it is light and non-greasy, plus it made him feel like he was wearing something!

Adrien Brody
Styled by: Paul Norton

Get the Look:
Said Norton, "In my opinion Adrien always stands out on the red carpet. As a lover of fashion, he always welcomes creativity when it comes to both his hair and his wardrobe. When working on my men clients I often times begin our glam process with a freshening up of their current haircut.

"Since Adrien's hair is on the darker side and I often worry that his fun texture can get lost in the flashes of the cameras, I enlisted the help of my friends at Matrix to provide me the product I needed to empower me to provide Adrien with the appropriate style for this star studded event.

"As far as men's hairstyles go, I consider Adrien's to be a medium length so naturally I started his style by prepping with Matrix Style Link Heat Buffer Thermal Styling Spray mixed with Matrix Style Link Volume Builder Volume Booster on wet hair. I used a small boar bristle round brush I blew it out from bottom to top, focusing on trying to achieve an appropriate amount of volume and fullness on the top as not to overwhelm the entire look. Remember the idea is to look cool but appear like it just comes naturally!

"Once the hair was dry, I chose Matrix Style Link Over Achiever Cream paste to strategically mess up his hair and shape it in a complementary fashion but still show off the awesome texture I had just given him with my cut and blow out.

"Once the hair was settled in exactly how we thought looked the coolest I then chose Matrix Style Link Style Fixer finishing spray to secure his look."
