Skincare Education: The Skinny on Skin hosted by the Melanoma Foundation of New England

The Melanoma Foundation of New England (MFNE) has developed an innovative program for salon professionals called The Skinny on Skin which is set to launch this spring.

This free educational program calls on medical training methods to teach beauty professionals how to spot suspicious moles on the scalp and neck while performing common salon services. As one of the only professionals to closely examine scalps on a regular basis, stylists must be equipped with the skills to spot potential melanoma long before anyone else, creating a clear need for a program like The Skinny on Skin.

MFNE developed The Skinny On Skin to educate salon professionals to identify suspicious moles in hard-to-see places on their client’s scalp and neck.  By learning the warning signs of skin cancer, stylists can become a valuable partner in the fight against melanoma.

The Skinny On Skin training sessions will be lead by medical professionals who will teach the warning signs of skin cancer and advise stylists on the best ways to speak with their clients about seeking medial attention if a suspicious mole is identified.
