Troy Dina, the second generation to run Dina's Barber Shop in Mokena, IL, performs a "singe haircut," where the barber burns the hair instead of cutting it. The singe haircut creates a sharp look by cauterizing the tips of the hair. Dina explains that this hot haircut used to be a tradition in the town, especially before weddings. His father, who opened the shop in 1948, passed down the fiery technique.
