Today, you will get to know Darcee Nice (@hairbydarceee). She is a 26-year-old stylist at West Brim Salon in Louisville, Kentucky.
Q&A:
Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?
Darcee Nice (DN): Back in 2020, my husband and I did a cross country road trip in our conversion van and explored the U.S.
BLP: What is your proudest accomplishment?
DN: Opening my salon in 2021 and continuing to watch it grow.
BLP: What is your current favorite hair trend?
DN: My current favorite trend is mid-length hair with heavy layering styled with rollers – the perfect 90s blowout.
BLP: What is a hair tip you have for your fellow stylists?
DN: A good tip for stylists out there is to continue educating yourself. There is so much to learn that is ever-changing in this industry. Also, freshen up on the fundamentals of hair every once in a while – It’s easy to forget about the little things.
BLP: What do you love about your work?
DN: I love that I get to create with my hands every day. At the end of a service, I am my biggest competitor, so I get to analyze and continue perfecting my work on the daily! What we do truly is a craft and an ever-going practice.
BLP: What motivates you about the industry you are in?
DN: I am motivated by the younger generation of stylists joining in on our industry. I’m a young stylist myself, and I watch the industry change and flourish every year. There is a standard in hairstyling that I have never seen before, and it’s held so high. It’s inspiring to watch that grow with the newer stylists coming in.
BLP: What is a professional goal you have for yourself?
DN: A goal that I am working on currently is to understand the what and the why’s behind the ingredients and formulas of the brands I support. Being able to understand the science behind it all is so interesting to me. I’d love to master that.
