Meet Beauty Launchpad 30 Under 30 Winner Elizabeth Arthur

Today, you will get to know Elizabeth Arthur (@hairbyelizabetharthur). She is a 29-year-old stylist at SALON561 in Collierville, Tennessee.

Q&A: 

Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?

Elizabeth Arthur (EA): Most people know I’m extremely dedicated to my career, but when I’m not behind the chair, I am an equestrian. I spend my evenings and free-time with my two horses, Krome and Draco. 

BLP: What is your proudest accomplishment?

EA: My proudest accomplishment would be opening my first salon while being a single mother with no financial loans and having only one income. Having the mentality that I would be the only stylist in my space at first led to now having a team of four people. Seeing my 120-year-old building being transformed into a hair salon has been the most humbling yet exciting experience. If I had to choose one proudest moment, it would be my testimony that comes with the trials of this journey. 

BLP: What is your current favorite hair trend? 

EA: My current favorite hair trend would be the luxury 90s blowout with a soft blended dimensional color. I love the layered and high-end volume look. With the right products, hair color, cut and style, women and men can feel the most powerful. 

BLP: What is a hair tip you have for your fellow stylists? 

EA: If I could offer one hair tip for my fellow stylists, it would be to not overthink your depth when it comes to dimensional brunettes or blondes. Less is more. The right technique and placement will add those pops of color your client desires. Leave more depth than you think!

BLP: What do you love about your work? 

EA: Not one client has the same formula. Every time a client comes in, I’m constantly evolving their look, asking how they feel about their current hair color and suggesting what I think would look best to suit them. Brunettes are my go to when it comes to building my dream clientele. While I love a good blonde, I get overly excited when I gain a new dimensional brunette client. 

BLP: What motivates you about the industry you are in?

EA: What motivates me the most in our industry is education. My salon and I cannot survive without education. Coming from an educator background, I found that I can not offer the level, color or product I want to offer without extending my education for my clientele. Every time I invest into business and stylist education, I feel more confident and powerful, constantly wanting more to share with other stylists. 

BLP: What is a professional goal you have for yourself? 

EA: My number one professional goal I have for my up-and-coming salon would be to keep growing. In little under a year, we have evolved vastly in our small community. My plan is to keep creating a space for both clients and stylists to love, offering both a space and an environment they can’t have anywhere else.
