Nicky Clarke, the renowned British hair brand, is partnering with SFWRUNWAY at New York Fashion Week, scheduled for September 11 and 12, 2024 at The Ivory on Park in Brooklyn, NY. This marks the third season that Nicky Clarke is collaborating with New York Fashion Week hair teams, underscoring the brand’s commitment to supporting professional hairstylists and promoting diversity and innovation within the global fashion community.

Nicky Clarke was handpicked by SFWRUNWAY’s Beauty Director Tianna Dilligard, who is overseeing the hair, makeup and nail teams at the event. As the official hair tool sponsor, Nicky Clarke’s range of professional grade styling tools, including the AirStyle PRO and a new launch, the InfraRed PRO flat iron, will be exclusively used by the hair teams at SFWRUNWAY. Dilligard, a seasoned salon and session artist with over a decade of experience, will lead 55 artists, ensuring that each look is executed flawlessly.

Day 1: September 11 

2:00 PM – Maison Diaspora: A vibrant celebration of African designers, blending traditional motifs with contemporary aesthetics, the fusion of traditional African heritage and contemporary fashion trends will be on display in this designers’ showcase. From stunning Ankara prints to intricate beadwork, this event celebrates the diversity and creativity of African fashion. Experience the pulsating beats of African music, as renowned DJs and live performers set the stage on fire.

5:30 PM – NYFW CURVE Plus Size Collective: A platform dedicated to plus-size designers and models, promoting body positivity and diversity in fashion. An unparalleled collection of men’s and women’s cutting-edge designs from visionary fashion designers who celebrate and embrace all body types. 8:00 PM – Streetwear Collective: An “Art is Fashion” showcase that redefines urban fashion, transforming garments into wearable works of art. Experience the runway becoming a living canvas for five extraordinary artists blurring the lines between art and fashion. These creators don’t just design clothes; they paint masterpieces that you can wear. Each garment is a unique work of art, a fusion of brushstrokes and fabrics that transcends traditional fashion. Witness the power of paint as it transforms into couture, and discover the future of wearable art.

Day 2: September 12 

5:00 PM – Latin Designers Collective: A tribute to the creativity and passion of Latinx designers, showcasing bold colors, rich textures and compelling storytelling through fashion. This vibrant celebration of Latin creativity and innovation highlights the incredible talent and diverse perspectives of Latin designers, bringing their unique visions to the global fashion stage. Expect bold designs, rich cultural influences and unparalleled craftsmanship.

8:00 PM – Black in Fashion (Encore): Celebrating the legendary pioneers in the fashion industry and highlighting the enduring impact of Black designers and models.

Each show will be preceded by a red-carpet experience 30 minutes before the start.

Beyond the runway, Naomi Alabi’s commitment to fostering creativity extends to her work with Creator Connect, a nonprofit initiative dedicated to supporting and nurturing emerging talent. By providing mentorship, resources and opportunities, Creator Connect helps aspiring designers who might otherwise be overlooked in the competitive fashion industry. This initiative champions diversity and inclusivity, making a tangible impact on the lives of young designers.
