Hair straightening has certainly went through many iterations over the past century, with many chemical and device technologies not being kind to hair health. The good news is the latest development in hair straightening technology is healthier for the hair. Enter infrared hair straightening, which heats hair gently from the inside out for less damage, more shine and locked in moisture. Find out how to straighten hair with Nicky Clarke's new InfraRed PRO Real Infrared Titanium Straightener below, which launches in August 2024, from Drew Noreen (@drewjonobeauty).
InfraRed PRO Straightener Tips/Steps
Step 1: Start by pre-heating the InfraRed PRO Straightener to desired level and section the hair. Use three sections: one for the back of the head, running from crown to behind the ears, and two front side sections based off the client’s parting.
Step 2: Beginning at the nape of the neck, take approximately ¼” to ½” horizontal sections (depending on density). Using a comb to help guide and control the section, press hair moving from root to end in a semi-slow motion, allowing just enough time for the heat and pressure to smooth the hair. Repeat the process for coarser or curlier textures, if necessary.
Step 3: Continue moving through the back of the head, then repeat the same method while working through the side sections. Be sure to take smaller, vertical sections around the hairline to help smooth and control any baby hairs.
Step 4: Once complete, you may finish with any product of choice. To help maintain smoothness and control potential frizz, use an anti-humidity product or a dry oil.
