Elevate your clients’ heat index with the warming duo of bronzer plus blush.
Sub-zero temperatures, along with constant cloud cover, may be draining the fresh-faced color from your client’s skin, but fooling nature—as well as peers—has always been an aim of cosmetics.
Enter the one-two punch of blushes and bronzers.
Layering a warm tone (bronzer) underneath a pop of cool color (blush) helps mimic a flushed glow without appearing too faux for the colder months.
“First, create depth of color with a matte product, and then finish the look with a subtle, shimmering shade on the cheekbone and temples,” editorial makeup artist Wendy Karcher explains.
Lightly dusting bronzer over facial angles (such as cheekbones, nose and brow bones) helps highlight contours, but, Karcher warns, if you want to keep the effect subtle, “be sure to use a full, soft brush.”
If clients balk at bronzers containing shimmer, Karcher suggests introducing them to rosy brown blushes (for fair skin tones) and bright pinks and corals (for darker skin tones) that pack in plenty of faux flush minus the pearl power.
