In My Kit: Makeup Artist Tim Quinn

Tim Quinn Makeup

At 19, Giorgio Armani celebrity face designer Tim Quinn got his first real taste of beauty as a model, but he soon realized that his talents would best be used behind the camera. In pursuit of this dream, Quinn traveled to Milan to train alongside makeup maestro Pat McGrath and eventually joined the Giorgio Armani Beauty team in 2001 to grant women simple, chic beauty with unadorned glowing skin. “My philosophy is to use products that keep a woman’s natural beauty front and center—simple refinement that accentuates the beauty of the wearer,” he says. You’ve likely witnessed his refined handiwork on actresses Kerry Washington, Camilla Belle and Diane Lane; these stunners constantly top beauty editors’ lists for their gorgeous yet understated looks. No matter the client, Quinn wields makeup as a “tool meant to enhance and embellish natural beauty rather than mask it,” he shares. “ is is in line with my style, which is clean and polished, as opposed to overdone.” Here, Quinn points to the products that help his clients’ natural beauty shine.

4 For an Airbrushed FinishSephora PRO Featherweight Fan Brush #92: “I use this to apply sheer products. It lends an airbrush effect without moving any [makeup] I’ve already applied.”

5) For a Dewy SheenGiorgio Armani Crema Nera Supreme Recovery Oil: “No matter who I’m working with—man or woman—it refreshes and refines skin in minutes. Gently press it on top of makeup after it’s all done to keep the skin looking dewy.”
