In honor of the brand's recent additions to its gloss portfolio, we're celebrating National Hair Gloss Day with milk_shake! Recently, I caught up with milk_shake National Artist Sarah McGinnis (@pincurlsgirl) to try out milk_shake's gloss treatment!
Interview with Sarah McGinnis
Before trying out milk_shake's permanent color and gloss, I chatted with Sarah to learn how she got her start educating with the brand. We also dove into Sarah's must-have milk_shake products and what signature scent she would create for the brand if she could. Plus, Sarah gave me (and all of you!) a preview of the service I was about to receive!

Trying The Gloss!
After the interview, it was time to try milk_shake's color line and gloss!
For the Base Color, Sarah used milk_shake's Creative Permanent Color in 2 parts 5.4 (level 5 copper) and 1 part 5N (5 natural) with 20 volume developer. The base color had a 1:1.5 mixing ratio, and the color processed for 35 minutes.
Then, it was time to rinse and shampoo with milk_shake's floral colour care shampoo (which is my favorite scent from the colour care line).
Once the hair was clean, Sarah applied the gloss! She used 2 parts 9.34 (copper golden, very light blond) and 1 part 7.4 (copper, medium blond) with acidic color activator. There was a 1:1 ratio for the gloss, which processed for 20 minutes.
Then, it was time to rinse the hair again with milk_shake's colour care shampoo and conditioner!
Afterwards, I headed back to the salon chair for a quick trim of my bangs and a blowout to finish off the look!
I left with a voluminous, sparkling look that I could not get enough of!
