
Laura Gibson, master colorist and artistic director for Rusk, shares what she feels will be the trending color looks for summer 2021 as well as how to achieve them.
Gibson's Summer 2021 Hair Trend Predictions:
- Warm, sun-kissed and golden hues like caramel, honey and almond
- More natural looks with soft warm pops ribboning throughout
Get the Looks:
Formula A: RuskUltimate Blonde + 40v
Step 1: Vertically section hair from ear to ear and create a long natural-looking part Formula B
Step 2: Clip front sections out of way, mix and apply formula
Step 3: Back of the head—pre-section four thick diagonal back sections
Step 4: Within each section, paint two to three double-point balayage subsections, leaving hair out in between
Step 5: Following the natural part, take horizontal sections working up to the part and paint one to three double-point balayage subsections, leaving hair out in between
Step 6: Repeat on other side
Step 7: Process to desired level
Formula B: Rusk Deepshine gloss 9cg = 8 N
Step 1: Vertically section hair from ear to ear and create a long natural-looking part
Step 2: Clip front sections out of the way, mix and apply formula
Step 3: Back of the head—pre-section four thick diagonal back sections
Step 4: Within each section paint two to three double-point balayage subsections, leaving hair out in between
Step 5: Following the natural part, take horizontal sections working up to the part and paint one to three double-point balayage subsections, leaving hair out in between
Step 6: Repeat on other side
Step 7: Process to desired level
Step 8: Apply Formula B all over until desired color is achieved (max processing is 20 minutes)
