About Twisties
After working in the beauty industry for years and running an online store for nail products, founder Donna Pronk knew firsthand how time-consuming and exhausting hand-painted nail art could be. Long hours spent perfecting tiny details, aching backs and endless days in the salon—she experienced it all.
"I knew not every nail technician has the time, skills or patience to create [nail art]," Pronk explains. "I tried all the alternatives — stickers, foils, stampings, decals — but they were often complicated, disappointing and didn’t look or feel natural. I thought there had to be a better way."
That’s when the idea for Twisties was born. Together with Daan, a product developer with a keen eye for innovation, and Cédric, a trained graphic designer with an unmatched attention to detail, the team combined their talents to bring Twisties from concept to reality. They visited over 100 suppliers, sent 2,000 emails and faced rejection after rejection. But through it all, their shared vision and determination kept them going. Three years of hard work, countless setbacks and moments of doubt couldn’t stop them. Together, Donna, Daan, and Cédric made their dream a reality.

How to Apply Twisties
With just five simple steps, Twisties are easy to apply!
- Prep your nails as you normally would before applying gel polish. This can be a base of gel, polygel, acrylic — anything you would use under a gel polish. Start to apply your gel polish! Using a full-cover design? Apply a white gel polish, this makes the colors pop! Using a transparent background Twistie? Pick any gel polish color you like. Cure it under a UV lamp. Apply a rubber base of choice and cure it under a UV lamp before moving to the next step. This will ensure the Twistie sticks perfectly to your nail.
- Choose the Twistie size that fits your nail best. It’s better to go a little bigger than too small, you can file off the excess later!
- Peel your Twistie off the sheet. Use tweezers for extra precision. Place it onto the sticky layer of your rubber base, starting from the cuticle and pressing down over the entire nail.
- Not quite right? No worries! You can reposition your Twistie as much as you need. Smooth it out, stretch it and make sure it hugs the nail tight and perfectly.
- Apply a top coat to protect your Twisties — don’t forget to seal the edges! Cure it under a UV lamp. Need to file? Do it carefully, then apply a second layer of top coat for extra durability. That’s it! Your nails look like you spent hours in the salon, but we know better.
