Q&A:

Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?

Meghann Zarrillo (MZ): If I wasn’t a hairstylist, I would have been a storm chaser. I love all things weather.

BLP: How did you get your start in the industry?

MZ: I dual enrolled in cosmetology during high school and started working at a chain Regis salon at 18.

BLP: What is your proudest achievement in the industry thus far?

MZ: Successfully owning a safe and happy space for my clients and, most importantly, my staff for the last 12 years.

BLP: What advice would you give to the younger version of yourself just starting out in the industry, looking back on your whole career?

MZ: Invest in your education always and don’t be afraid to learn from others, but always trust your instincts.

BLP: What is your current favorite hair trend?

MZ: Always here for anything lived-in or a short blunt bob.

BLP: What is a valuable hair tip that you want to share with your fellow stylists (whether it’s a business tip or something related to styling/working with hair)?

MZ: Set your own goals, and strive to be the best version of yourself – no one else.

BLP: What inspires your work?

MZ: My clients – They keep me on my toes, and I always want them to leave with something they LOVE.

BLP: What is something that keeps you passionate and motivated in the industry each day?

MZ: The industry is always evolving, and I never want to be the stylist that didn’t grow or change with it. Learning new things keeps us fresh and our clients excited to come back.

BLP: What changes would you like to see the industry make in order to grow/change/evolve/be better than it was before?

MZ: More positivity all around and less shaming and judging. Just because someone does something differently than you doesn’t mean it’s wrong. Social media has gotten out of control. I’d like to see hairstylists come back together and support each other.

BLP: What is a career goal you have for yourself?

MZ: Get over my fear of speaking in public, and start educating.
