Today, you will get to know Melanie Hasson (@beachwavesandbalayage). She is a 28-year-old stylist at Beachwaves and Balayage in Staten Island, New York.
Q&A:
Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?
Melanie Hasson (MH): I absolutely love to sing. I’m a classically trained singer and performed from age 6-18.
BLP: What is your proudest accomplishment?
MH: My proudest accomplishment is opening up my own salon suite. I’ve been able to really express who I am, find myself as an artist and create my own environment for me and my clients.
BLP: What is your current favorite hair trend?
MH: Lived in color! I love all things organic, natural and healthy, and I love that lived in color promotes all of that.
BLP: What is a hair tip you have for your fellow stylists?
MH: Keeping an open mind and leaving your ego at the door. These two things have opened up so many opportunities for me, whether it be absorbing education, taking constructive criticism or being open to messing up. It only makes you a better stylist.
BLP: What do you love about your work?
MH: I love that I can make a dramatic change in someone’s hair but still keep them staying true to themselves and their natural features.
BLP: What motivates you about the industry you are in?
MH: The people I surround myself with. I am so lucky to be surrounded by so many supportive people, whether that be in my salon suite or even through the Instagram community. It feels so amazing to support each other and to be supported.
BLP: What is a professional goal you have for yourself?
MH: My goal is to go on tour to educate by the end of the year. Education is my passion, and I love meeting new people and sharing my knowledge.
