Today, you will get to know Maguy Compton (@themaneartistry). She is a 27-year-old stylist at The Mane Artistry Salon in Bloomington, Minnesota.
Q&A:
Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?
Maguy Compton (MC): I’ve been with my husband since I was 14! We have been together for 13 years, married for 1 and a half!
BLP: What is your proudest accomplishment?
MC: Besides giving birth to my beautiful daughter who is now almost 4 months old, I have had the opportunity to become Moroccanoil’s Global Haircolor Ambassador this year. I have had the chance to travel the country and educate stylists, sharing my passion for hair!
BLP: What is your current favorite hair trend?
MC: My current favorite hairstyle trend is the blowout trend! We love a good bouncy blowout! I have been having a lot of fun playing around with texture sprays and round brushes to really give that voluminous look!
BLP: What is a hair tip you have for your fellow stylists?
MC: Never stop learning, and always make room for growth. The sky's the limit, and there is so much ongoing education. When investing in ourselves and our business, it can really make a positive impact in our daily routine and also motivate us to try something new/out of our comfort zone.
BLP: What do you love about your work?
MC: I love being able to just be creative within my work. It’s my safe and happy place. I also really enjoy the amazing and talented stylists I am surrounded with at my salon. The past few years have brought so many amazing opportunities for my career. It’s been such an honor to work with Moroccanoil. I love to network and teach. It's a true passion of mine, and I get to meet some really cool people along the way.
BLP: What motivates you about the industry you are in?
MC: We are always cheering each other on. Though it can be and feel like such a competitive industry, we all are so supportive of one another. I think when you have a really positive mindset, it can keep you motivated to hustle and work harder and want to also help others around you! Also, all my clients who continue to see me and support me motivate me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
BLP: What is a professional goal you have for yourself?
MC: A goal that I have for myself would be to continue to run the salon that I own with my husband and hopefully expand in the future. I also would love to travel internationally and educate stylists in other countries!
