Hair Color How To: Neon Rainbow by Mary Thomaston

Stylist Mary Thomaston recently created this fun look for her client. Bright, electric shades of purple, green and blue pop against a dark base for a colorful, rainbow effect. Below, Mary shares how she created this look:

Get the Look:
Says Mary, "I started off with previously colored black hair. I divided the hair down the middle and took diagonal back sections on each side. I alternated with slices and weaving using 40 vol. Redken Flashlift and Olaplex. I let that process until the hair was a pale yellow, then washed and dried.

"I then applied fashion colors. I used all PRAVANA: Neon Yellow, Neon Blue mixed with a hint of Neon Yellow, Blue mixed with Neon Blue, and Violet mixed with Wild Orchid. In each section that I weaved, I used a solid color in that section. In the sections that I did slices, I melted two to three colors into one another. I let that sit for about 45 minutes, then washed dried, and styled."
