Farouk Systems, the maker of CHI, sponsored this year’s Miss Universe pageant, as well as brought together both CHI Hair Care and the Miss Universe Style Illuminate Line by CHI to work with the styling needs of nearly ninety contestants from different countries around the world.
To kick off the festivities, a pop-up salon was presented and sponsored by CHI Miss Universe Style Illuminate Styling Line and brought in droves of local and international press. The event allowed news outlets and bloggers from around the world to meet the universe contestants and to sample as well as depart with the Miss Universe Style Illuminate Line by CHI, including the lines tools. They even were given the opportunity to have their hair done by top CHI Celebrity stylist. The experienced stylists personalized the products and styles for each guest via a selection of choices in a style menu which included anything from a sophisticated bun to captivating curls – notable fact: all hair styles were used in the actual show!
Pageant fever was certainly in the air as Sunday night's NBC broadcast of the pageant drew in more than 7.6 million viewers, making it the most watched since 2006. The night was rounded off with also crowning the winner for the Miss Photogenic Universe Award. The competition was narrowed down to eighty-eight women from around the globe, the winner chosen being Miss Universe Puerto Rico, Gabriela Berrios. An expert panel from CHI chose her as the most captured beauty through the lens of a camera. She was awarded a $1,000 cash prize, plus opportunities for a year-long contract with Farouk Systems Inc., the makers of CHI Hair Care.
