Capturing the powerful duality of fierce expression and unapologetic vulnerability inspired this photo shoot by a team of formidable Seattle-area artists. Creative Chemistry hair team joined forces with photographer Inti St. Clair to create a visual narrative highlighting the beauty of strong women in both bold and quiet moments. The creative result highlights that sometimes in our moments of stillness, we find our greatest strength.
While the looks for this shoot are more sculptural, they still echo the trends for fall by showing strength, volume and texture.
"The silhouettes are architectural to mirror the strength exposed in these super women. ‘Fierce’ was one word we used as our inspiration," said Mandy McCullough, owner of Fix Salon in Seattle.
"As haircolor transitions to fall jewel tones such as --ruby reds, rose golds and golden browns will be trending. Salon clients can be inspired by these images as they think of new colors for the changing season," said Jody Erickson, owner of The Boulevard Salon in Renton, WA.
In an effort to expand to new media formats, photographer Inti St. Clair created a companion video. This video gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Creative Chemistry’s process, from conceptualizing the looks to capturing the final shoot. The audience not only gets to see the end result, they get to experience the journey it took to get there. Video footage links:
About Creative Chemistry
Creative Chemistry, an artistic cooperative, is a collaboration between salon owners Mandy McCullough (Fix Salon; Seattle, WA), Jody Erickson (The Boulevard Salon; Renton, WA), and Kyla Huckabay (Pure Salon; Federal Way, WA). Their focus is to showcase hair talent in the Pacific Northwest through illustrative photo shoots and video.
This effort featured hair stylists from five salons in the role of team lead or assistant. Mandy, Jody and Kyla’s goal is to unite stylists in their area and help mentor their skills in an editorial environment.
"We want to show the talent of stylists in the Pacific Northwest and work together on our common love of hair," said Kyla Huckabay.
In addition to being salon owners and stylists, Mandy and Jody are National Educators for Redken 5th Ave, and Kyla is a National Educator for Pureology Serious Colour Care. They travel across the country to identify and translate current hair trends into inspiration for their work.
