Hair News: City of Hope Spirit of Life Award Goes to Wella's CEO Reuben Carranza

With diabetes unfortunately on the rise, more and more stylists are faced with the life-threatening disease everyday. Knowing this, Wella North America's CEO Reuben Carranza stepped in and created Hope Is In Style, a yearlong campaign that connects the salon community with the City of Hope in the fight against diabetes. To date, the program has helped generate $1.5 million for research and treatment all for the City of Hope.

To recognize the incredible assistance, City of Hope presented Carranza with the Spirit of Life Award at a gala event July 13, 2013. At the gala, Kathleen P. Talbot, director of philanthropy of the National Professional Salon Industry, noted her appreciation of Carranza's help. "His leadership brings greater hope, faith and possibilities to researchers, physicians and patients at City of Hope."

If you would like to take part in continuing to raise funds for diabetes research and treatment, you can either take part in the Hope Is In Style Auction featuring the "12 Dresses x 12 Designers" collection, or visit cityofhope.org.
