We've got the exclusive look at the test styles Aveda's Antoinette Beenders created for the 2010 Spring/Summer Christian Siriano runway.
The priviledged few who attend runway shows typically aren't privy to the run-throughs and test-runs needed to perfect the fierce 15-minutes of heart-stopping, catwalk-stomping fashion. Every minutiae the audience takes for granted—the music, the walk, the hair, the makeup, the nails, the accessories—is put under a microscope over and over and over again. Each detail becomes "make or break" for the designer. (Anybody who watches Project Runway knows that misuse of the Blue Fly accessories wall can squash a contenstant's dreams as fast as Heidi can utter, "Auf wiedersehen!!")
What the audience at Project Runway alum Christian Siriano's spring show didn't know is that the architecturally brilliant S-wave ponytail that bounced down the runway, created by Aveda's Antoinette Beenders, came to life after a host of other styles were tested, tweaked and trashed (as in: ditched). And while the chosen style definitely fit Siriano's coastal ideal perfectly, the disposed-of 'dos Beenders crafted at the test run were just as fun and flirty as the one that made the cut. Here, a look at the styles that didn't pass muster with Siriano, but that tested mighty high in Launchpad's books! —Karie L. Frost
