Beauty Launchpad is spotlighting the winners of its Top 20 Salons contest for 2025! Sponsored by Wella Professionals, this contest spotlights innovative and unique salons that go above and beyond to provide stellar experiences for their clients and opportunities for growth for their hair pros.

Here, Samantha Pfeiffer welcomes us to Jacob Allen Salon in Pound Ridge, NY, established in October 2018.

Q&A with Salon Owner

Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is the backstory of your salon? What motivated you to start your business?

Samantha Pfeiffer (SP): Jacob Allen is named after my first born son. After he was born, I was motivated to open a small salon in the heart of the town my grandparents were from. My father was raised in Pound Ridge and has had many businesses of his own in town, including one in the exact location I am in now!

BLP: What is the overall aesthetic of your salon? What inspired you when designing the space?

SP: Jacob Allen Salon is bright, clean, modern with a little touch of rustic.

SP: We provide all color services, including balayage and lived in hair color. We offer men and women's hair cuts. We have stylists who specialize in curly hair cuts, smoothing keratin services, numerous hair treatments, eyebrow and lash tinting, lash lifts and brow laminations, as well as hair extensions.

BLP: What products are used/retailed in your salon? Do you have a personal favorite?

SP: We are an Oribe and Davines salon. I truly love both lines. One is very "Boujie" — very Bloomingdales, Chanel — and the other is very farm-to-shower and earthy, green and natural. Davines is HUGE into being as kind to earth as possible, with all packaging being recycled.

BLP: What makes your salon unique and stand out?

SP: We are a small boutique salon, but we are mighty. We have the most talented team that works so well together. We share our expertise and never allow a single client to leave unhappy. The client experience is our number one priority.

BLP: What takeaway do you hope clients have after a visit at your salon?

SP: We hope clients can take away that our hard work absolutely pays off in SO many ways. Our job isn't just a "job." We take a lot pride in our work, we value our relationships that we build and we give every day all we have.

BLP: What piece of advice would you give to a new salon owner?

SP: "If you are not growing, you're failing." Never stop learning, and always give it your best. Social media has given salons a healthy competition. Never become complacent.

BLP: What changes do you want to see in the industry to help salon owners and hairstylists working in salons grow and thrive?

SP: The industry is always changing. I think the industry has taught us to work smarter, not harder in many ways.

BLP: What’s next for your salon? Do you have any goals for 2025?

SP: Our 2025 goals are to continue growing and expanding our hours and team members to accommodate as many clients as we can. Also, we want to graduate our junior stylists to senior stylists by continuing their experience and education!
