How To: Create Bouncy, Frizz-Free Curls

Curls1

Ricky Pennisi, a successful salon owner, and leading stylist and founder of RI CI products knows that hydration is key for creating well-shaped, frizz-free curls. According to Ricky, "The main cause for frizz is actually a lack of hydration and moisture. It is important to touch the curls as little as possible as they dry. Once hair is dry, you can play with your curls freely without worrying about the frizz."

When working with curly-haired clients, it's important to keep in mind that at-home care is just as essential as a salon visit if your guest wants to maintain her curls. Says Ricky, "To lock moisture into curls, and create frizz-free, bouncy curls, [advise your client to] look for products that are sulfate-free, like RI CI products which I developed to create voluminous, silky curls in four simple styling steps."

See Ricky's steps for creating beautiful curls below:

Step 1: After you shampoo and condition the hair, lightly squeeze out excess water with a towel and apply a dime size of RI CI Drench Conditioner.

Step 2: Section hair into three layers. Working from the bottom to the top, distribute a quarter size amount of RI CI Thirsty Styling Gel evenly in a downward motion to the bottom two layers. For the top section of hair, work the gel in an upward motion. This step is the most important as it creates natural uniform curls, without the frizz.

Step 3: After the gel is applied, using that original towel, turn the head from side to side and gently lift the hair to set.

Step 4: Once the curls are completely dry, take a pea-sized amount of RI CI Velvet Serum and distribute evenly to hair to create shine and break up any stiffness.
