NYFW Hair: Texture Spotlight by Sassoon Salon at Eckhaus Latta

The Eckhaus Latta AW14 collection revealed a daring exploration of texture and shape, formed using house-loomed woolens and innovative construction techniques. Unveiled as a rare palette of elevated neutrals and strikingly bold tones of lilac and red, beauty is an extension of the unprecedented vision showcased through this collection.

Led by Michael Forrey on behalf of Sassoon Salon, the models' hair was styled to both reflect and contrast the strong textures that are central to the Eckhaus Latta collection. Left down, a defined cornrow braid follows the shape of the skull in an asymmetrical manner before loosely falling out. Chunky and knotted, this is juxtaposed by a sleek and shiny texture formed at the roots using Sebastian Shine Define Spray. The rest of the hair adheres to its natural shape using a light application of Sebastian Stylixer to defuse the ends. Male models show a similar style, with Sebastian Micro Fiber combed through to create a slick look at the roots.

With makeup by Janell Geason for Aveda and nails by Kim D'Amato for Priti NYC, the overall look was a gorgeous array of juxtapositions between contrasting looks and bold, graphic texture.
