Willowy feathers festoon locks on the runways.
The fine-feathered look migrates to the fashion flock yet again, but this time in the form of plumed hair adornments. Launchpad’s bird’s-eye view on the trend? Wing it on!
Backstage at Jean Paul Gaultier, a spurt of multicolor fluff jets straight to the sky from Milagros Schmoll’s forehead, while a spray of apple green plumage bursts forth from catwalker Sasha Pivovarova’s extravagant headgear at Christian Dior. For Donna Karan, feather placement is key: Thin, violet quills snake across vixen Coco Rocha’s visage in all the right places.
But the looks with the most liftoff come courtesy of the Christian Lacroix and Nina Ricci catwalks. Fluffy tufts of blonde feathers crown Lindsay Ellingson’s ’do at Christian Lacroix, serving as a soft highlight. And at Nina Ricci, hair megastar Odile Gilbert attaches wispy plumes to models’ individual strands, creating an undulating crest of feathered ends that’s at once dreamy and awe-inspiring. This is one trend that’s definitely not for the birds!
