Global Creative Director for Wella Professionals, Eugene Souleiman along with his talented team created a dynamic look for the Vanessa Bruno AW’13 Paris runway show.
The hair look was a lesson in controlled casualness. “I wanted to create a hair look that had the cleanness of minimalism yet gives the feeling of looseness and sensuality," said Souleiman.
"This is the first time I have worked for Vanessa Bruno and when we met to discuss the look we had great synergy and both wanted the same thing, something cool and uncontrived but with subtle touches of detail. Vanessa creates cool clothes for cool girls, she understands how girls want to look and this hairstyle echoes that feeling” added Souleiman.
However, creating a hairstyle that looks this laid back and cool, takes a surprising amount of work. “It’s all about the ‘prep’, you need to get the basics right, you need to start with hair that’s freshly washed and in great condition. Then you need a good blow dry. I used Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier on wet hair before blow drying, it acts as a primer and helps to give a natural satin finish to the hair,” said Eugene.
The finishing touch to this look was provided by spritzing the hair with Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz on the ends of the hair to provide a contrasting texture against the smoothness of the top of the head, giving an understated feeling of naivety to the look.
Get the Look:
STEP 1: Start with clean freshly washed and conditioned hair, using Wella Professionals Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner, to ensure hair is in perfect condition
STEP 2: Apply Wella Professionals Velvet Amplifier Hair Primer to wet hair and blow dry with a round brush keeping the hair flat to the head
STEP 3: Create a centre parting and using a fine tooth comb, comb the hair through to create a smooth finish and position behind the ear
STEP 4: Release a small piece of hair on both sides of the front of the head so they fall in front of the ears
STEP 5: Spray Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Spray on the end lengths of the hair from the ear bone downwards, then gently twist the long hair and apply heat from a blow dryer with a diffuser – this will allow the hair to ‘set’ and provide a raw contrasting texture to the hair
STEP 6: If time allows, clip the twist in place loosely for a little more texture, and release when ready.
