On June 21, during Juneteenth weekend, Texture vs Race Founder Keya Neal (@keyaartistically) was honored during the Culture Awards at The International African American Museum's (IAAM) Jubilee Soiree in Charleston, SC.

The theme for the gala was “Celebrating a Century of Black Beauty," showcasing the multifaceted expressions of Black Beauty throughout the past century. From iconic figures and cultural movements to contemporary artistry and individual narratives, the soiree was a powerful tribute to the enduring legacy and evolving definition of Black Beauty from 1925 to 2025.

During this year’s Jubilee Soiree, IAAM presented its Culture Awards to individuals who have significantly contributed to the narrative of Black beauty across various domains. These prestigious awards were presented this year in distinct categories: Crown, Essence, and Spirit (Icon).

Neal was chosen for the Crown award because of her contributions in reflecting the artistry of hair.
