Dinair Airbrush Makeup took on the challenge of completing over 150 professional airbrush makeup applications in less than one hour for the living atmosphere artists, entertainers, chefs and wait staff for the recent 2011 Creative Arts Ball and 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards Governor’s Ball. These two special Hollywood events, also called the largest sit down dinners in North America took place September 10th and 18th with a guest list of almost 4,000 attending each event. The events took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center immediately following the Awards shows at the adjacent Nokia Theater.
The attendees were honored for their many achievements in American television programming. Performers, Directors, Producers, Art Directors, Costume Designers, Cinematographers, Casting Directors, Costumers and Makeup Artists, among many, came to celebrate!
For the first time, makeup designs were a key feature in the overall look and theme of both the Creative Arts Ball and Primetime Emmy Awards Governors Ball. Partnering with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and with premiere event producers, Sequoia Productions, Dinair Airbrush Makeup added the exclamation point with makeup.
These amazing Ballrooms were designed to take guests on a whimsical trip of various movements, multiple sensations and figments of the imagination. The ‘60s mod-inspired/op art ambiance featured living art still performers, aerialists suspended 16 feet overhead, encased within bars and strolling among the guests. Dinair high definition airbrush makeup contributed to the visual “wow-factor,” taking these gala events to an exciting theatrical level. Black and white ambiance with a touch of gold accent was the color theme that echoed through the 15 different airbrush designs completed by Dinair on the events’ living atmosphere artists, entertainers, staff -- and even the Head Chef!
Alyssa Brevick of Dinair shares, “Guests were overheard asking about the artistic makeup and were curious as to who was responsible for the added artistic touch. I even overheard some attendees ask a makeup adorned bartender, who did it and how they did it. People were very curious about the makeup, which visually helped complete the entire atmosphere. It was a very beautiful event.”
Some of the many celebrity guests included Primetime Emmy® Awards show host, Jane Lynch from Glee, Evan Rachel Wood and Kate Winslet from Mildred Pierce, Gwyneth Paltrow, cast members from Glee, Modern Family, Mad Men, The Amazing Race, Deadliest Catch, Anthony Bourdain, Charlie Sheen, Ashton Kutcher, Rebecca Romijn, and many from behind-the-scenes who make the shows that were nominated.
Dinair co-owner and CEO, George Lampman shares, “We’ve done beauty makeup for a number of awards shows, but this was our first time adding Dinair designs and creative elements to the Primetime Emmy Awards Governors Ball. It is an honor to have been chosen; we had a blast creating designs and augmenting the black and white mod theme with makeup.”
