Sam Villa will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award on September 14 at the American Beauty Vision Awards in Kansas City, MO.
As one of the most respected hair and beauty industry leaders, Villa has dedicated his entire career to helping others cultivate community, confidence and technical expertise. He also has a branded line of tools designed with ergonomic benefits to eliminate common stress on the body and ensure ease of performance.
“Sam inspires community…. there’s something about the way he makes you feel… like you’re the only person in the room,” says Vilma Subel, Founder and Producer of the American Beauty Vision Awards. “He has a special energy that the industry just can’t lose and that’s why we’re honoring him… to cultivate and celebrate that energy…to sustain it.”

This is the first year the award ceremony (previously named Midwest Beauty Awards) is going national, stylists have until July 1 to enter. The program is unique in that it features a live runway show and an educational component. It is designed as a stepping block into the world of competition in that it is more intimate and focuses on cultivating a sense of encouragement. There’s less pressure than larger programs and attendees feel more comfortable and unified.
“Sam has always said there’s room for everyone to succeed, and I wanted to foster that in this program by creating a culture that inspires and supports. A community where you feel at home…where you can celebrate yourself and others,” says Subel.
