On Thursday, April 23, 2015, Gene Juarez will be inducted into the Junior Achievement Puget Sound Business Hall of Fame at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center.Juarez will be honored and recognized for his innovative efforts and business leadership skills within the state of Washington. “I’m very honored the community has felt me worthy of being recognized as such a strong influence in the Northwest,” said Juarez. “I am accepting this award on behalf of all the people that helped make the brand from beginning to now. They are the ones that deserve credit.”
Juarez, who is known in his community as an innovator and risk-taker, founded his first salon in 1971. By the time Juarez sold his company, that first salon had grown into a regional chain of eight full-service salons with locations throughout the surrounding Seattle area, including Tacoma, Silverdale, and Redmond. “Gene is a true American success story and is deeply passionate about the craft of hairdressing. He is a generous and knowledgeable leader,” said Tevya Finger and Daniel Kaner, co-founders and co-presidents of Oribe Hair Care. “He has set a standard in leadership and excellence for which much of the industry has followed. We congratulate Gene on this fine honor and a truly remarkable career.”
The 2015 Laureates also receiving recognition are Jeff Brotman and Jim Sinegal, co-founders of Costco Wholesale Corporation. According to the Junior Achievement Puget Sound Business Hall of Fame, this year’s laureates “have been selected by an independent committee comprised of some of the region’s top business leaders and Washington state historians, and is chaired by Gordon Prouty, publisher of the Puget Sound Business Journal. Each laureate selected represents business excellence, character, vision, and innovation—qualities that exemplify the spirit of the Pacific Northwest.” “I am proud to be associated with such esteemed leaders in our community,” said Juarez. “I hope this inspires people to pursue their passions and creative dreams, especially those in our industry.”
