In a global competition unlike any other, an estimated 7 million online viewers joined the more than 1,400 stylists attending the 14th annual Wella Professionals International TrendVision Awards in Barcelona to watch as 80 contestants from 45 countries vied for the win. Following the Parade of Nations, hair was the “mane” event, including presentations by The Sassoon Academy and Mark Hayes, Alexis Ferrer’s tribute to the city of Barcelona and a closing show from Michael Polsinelli and Shay Dempsey of Sebastian Professional. Additionally, icon Robert Lobetta received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his decades of boundary-pushing work and inspiration, and the 2017 trends were revealed. Spring/summer’s Ultra Contouring celebrates individuality through real, ultra-real and surreal looks created through contouring that are designed to create optical illusions.
