The stars were out to celebrate the best in film at the 96th Academy Awards.

This year's ceremony had several key highlights, with "Oppenheimer" taking home seven awards out of the 13 it was nominated for, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor. Ryan Gosling also performed "I'm Just Ken" from the Barbie soundtrack, while Billie Eilish and FINNEAS won Best Original Song for "What Was I Made For?" also from the Barbie soundtrack.

A big night like this calls for plenty of defining looks, from the dress to the hair! Here, we share our favorite looks from the night and recap some trends we saw sported at the event.

Blondes

Schwarzkopf brought blonde to the Academy Awards, creating looks for Margot Robbie, Sydney Sweeney and Kelly Ripa.

The blonde color, while evergreen, has been making particular waves this spring. There's lots of different shades and tones that clients can rock, but, in particular, the honey/syrup blonde has been a defining trend in blonde hair, especially with Ariana Grande rocking the shade on the cover of her new album "eternal sunshine."

Celebrity Hair Colorist Jacob Schwartz (@jacobschwartzhair) is the creative mind behind Margot Robbie's gold spun hair, which she also rocked at the Golden Globes.

"I am so honored to have worked with Margot for this amazing Barbie press run, culminating with the Oscars. I continued to use the same formula as the Golden Globes using my Spun with Gold technique to create her signature sparkling blonde. Schwarzkopf Igora Vibrance always delivers an Oscar’s performance with their unparalleled color deposit," shares Schwartz.

Updos

With wedding season right around the corner, it's not a surprise to see updos being sported on the red carpet. These styles are perfect for any celebration, whether it be a wedding or the Oscars red carpet.

FEKKAI was responsible for creating gorgeous, classy updos for both Gracie Abrams and Emma Chamberlain at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party.

“Gracie is wearing a powder pink velvet Prada dress with crystal details. We wanted the hair to feel timeless and not take away from the silhouette of the dress," shares Bobby Eliot, the celebrity stylist who created Abrams look for the night.

Here, Eliot (@bobbyeliot) shares his step-by-step process for creating Abrams look for the night.

  1. Start off with freshly washed hair. Then, use FEKKAI Brilliant Gloss Glass Hair Anti-Frizz Oil Serum combined with FEKKAI Clean Stylers Glossing Cream+ from roots to ends.
  2. Next, blow dry the hair section by section to smooth out the hair concentrating on mega shine. Then, use the FEKKAI Clean Stylers Volume Lock Hairspray all over.
  3. Using a flat iron, smooth out the hair section by section to really create a high shine finish.
  4. Then, use the FEKKAI Brilliant Gloss Finishing Cream and brush the hair into a sleek low messy bun.
  5. Using the FEKKAI Full Blown Volume Dry Texturizing Spray, spray the hair all over to give it an undone feel.
  6. Finish the look off with FEKKAI Brilliant Gloss Glass Hair Anti-Frizz Oil Serum and FEKKAI Clean Stylers Volume Lock Hairspray all over for any fly aways and to lock in the shine and style.

Bob Cuts

Short cuts are in for 2024, so of course the style is going to make it to the red carpet! There's lots of different ways to style a bob, which has been the most trendy of the short cuts recently. Here are just a few ways the short style was sported on the red carpet at this year's Academy Awards!

  • Karla Welch (@karlawelchstylist) styled "Barbie" star America Ferrera's hair in a short, blunt bob.
  • Adir Abergel (@hairbyadir) created Florence Pugh's hair look for the night. Her platinum blonde hair was styled in a wavy, textured bob.
  • Jenny Cho (@jennychohair) styled Carey Mulligan's hair into a rounded bob.
