Celebrity hairstylist Marcus Francis (@marcusrfrancis) used PHYTO to achieve Lizzy Caplan’s stunning look at the Emmy awards.

Caplan was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie for "Fleishman Is in Trouble."

“As Lizzy wore a vintage Yoji Yamamoto strapless gown that exuded old Hollywood glamour, we wanted to keep the overall vibe feeling effortless, yet elevated," Francis shares of his inspiration for the look. "We styled the hair up with a soft finish and an undone chignon to let Lizzy’s dress be the spotlight and her glam stay cool and timeless.”

Follow the step-by-step tutorial below to recreate this stunning updo that is perfect for the upcoming bridal season and your clients are sure to love!

How-To:

  1. For the look, on damp hair Marcus sprayed the PHYTOVOLUME Volumizing Blow Dry Spray at the roots.
  2. Next he applied the PHYTO PRO Style Volume Mousse to the mid length and ends. Massaging the product into the hair, he rough dried the hair to about 70%. Then, he used a vented round brush to give lift and volume at the roots and body to the hair.
  3. Next, he sprinkled the PHYTO PRO Style Texturizing Powder throughout the top and crown, massaging it in to give a natural lift. Keeping a center part and using her curtain bangs to frame her face, he pulled the hair into a low ponytail and secured it with an elastic.
  4. He then used a small amount of the PHYTO 7 Moisturizing Day Cream to smooth and piece out the hair before looping the hair and pinning the ends up and around into a loose low chignon.
  5. To keep the hairstyle feeling soft, he finished by adding some face framing layers, sealing the look with the PHYTO PRO Style Laque Soie hairspray.
