No head of hair is identical, and many would say it’s this uniqueness that epitomizes true beauty. At Oscar de la Renta’s Resort presentation, held at the lavish Academy Mansion located on New York’s Upper East Side, this was clearly the case as individuality transcended any single look. The diverse cast of models did not conform their hair into a particular style; instead, the hairstyle was designed to enhance each girl’s natural beauty. “The look is casual,” says hair lead Kevin Hughes, Moroccanoil artistic director, who creates what he calls a “whispering wave” on the models with straight strands. The girls with natural texture do not undergo thermal styling, but are treated with the curl-friendly product line. Overall, the look is subtle and the devil is in the details—allowing each model’s personality to shine through.
Though it make may look like the de la Renta girl can just get up and go, easy beauty still takes work! To achieve an effortless look, Hughes applies a dime-size amount of Moroccanoil Treatment, or Moroccanoil Treatment Light for those with finer texture, from mid-lengths to ends to ensure he’s working with healthy locks. He then adds Moroccanoil Root Boost to the top of the scalp for added volume, and Moroccanoil Thickening Lotion to achieve allover body. Hughes carves out a center part, blow-drying with the Moroccanoil Ceramic 55 MM Round Brush and Professional Series Ceramic Hair Dryer. To protect hair, he separates into 1.5-inch sections, spraying each piece with the Moroccanoil Perfect Defense to guard against any possible heat damage. For those lacking in the ringlet department, he adds subtle waves using a 1.5-inch flat iron. Hughes seals in the style with Moroccanoil Mending Infusion and mists with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray for hold that lasts from the runway to cocktail hour.
