The Show: Prabal Gurung
The Lead Stylists: Anthony Turner and Claudio Lazo for Wella Professionals and Hot Tools
The Inspiration: Though the Prabal Gurung collection found its beauty from the matrilineal world of the Mosuo tribe in China, Turner and Lazo sought to complement this idea with a youthful, “yoga-style” knot that feels effortless. “Think of going to yoga class on Sunday morning and your hair’s slightly done from the night before,” says Lazo. Adds Turner, “When I go to yoga in London I see girls with messy knots. It’s just really cool. We wanted to bring that [idea] into this.”
The Hero Products: Wella Professionals EIMI Extra Volume Mousse, Wella Professionals Body Crafter and an accordion headband. “We’re mixing these two [products] together and using quite a lot because I need the hair to stay firm when I pin in the knot,” says Turner. Of the throwback headband, he notes, “We really battled with these headbands, but I like that they give a youthful feel but also create this graphic detail with the lines [of demarcation].”
