Get the Look: Avant-Garde Beauty by Lisa Kennedy

Hairstylist Lisa Kennedy (Jason Liddiard Hairdressing), winner of the Creative Stylist of The Year award at the Salon Business Awards 2015 held in the UK, recently created this gorgeous, unique look. Perfect for a photo shoot or for practicing creative techniques, the avant-garde look mixes styles and textures for a final result that's equal parts edgy and romantic. Below, Lisa shares her how-to so you can recreate the look.

Get the Look:
1. Rough-dry UNITE Blow & Set lotion into the hair.

2. Take a triangle section from the center of the head down to the natural recession points.

3. Section this section into 6 sections.

4. Keep strong tension and scalp braid these sections. Secure tightly with a small, clear band.

5. Smooth off your finished plaits with a soft wax.

6. Section the remaining hair from ear to ear.

7. Mini-crimp this section from root to point.

8. Leave the top part of the remaining hair straight and continue to mini-crimp the rest.

9. Section by section, use a large, soft paddle brush to brush through the mini-crimp.

10. Spray in UNITE Texturiza to enhance volume.

11. Bring each plait around to the back of the head and secure.

12. Roll hair into a bob shape, and secure with pins. Finish with UNITE GO365 Hairspray. Model is ready for photoshoot.
