Noogie Thai Shares the Deeper Meaning Behind His Tattoos

Noogie Thai Hair

Paul Mitchell International trainer Noogie Thai on the meaning behind his body art.

My tattoo is not comprised of lines of ink; instead, it’s made up entirely of single dots. If you look closely, you will see tiny dots that come together at different focal points that lead to something larger—it’s based on geometry.

The inspiration for my body art is derived from the philosophy of the Dalai Lama, who said, “Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects.” My tattoo symbolizes that one single individual can radiate in such a way as to inspire many others; it’s the idea that one dot, or one person, matters.

I am so fortunate that I get to travel the world educating fellow hairdressers and sharing my passion for the craft. I hope to have that same ripple effect in professional beauty—to have my love for styling help encourage and impact my industry peers.
