Seqens Personal Care has added several next-generation blends to its AdvensProtect portfolio — a range of multifunctional alternatives to traditional preservatives. Developed at the UK manufacturing site of Chemoxy, an affiliate of the Seqens Group, this launch introduces high-purity, 100% bio-based versions to drive eco-conscious product development.

Emolliency + Product Protection: AdvensProtect 56E, 58E, 56E Green and 58 E Green

The new multifunctional ingredients provide humectant and emollient properties while ensuring excellent product protection. Per the company, they are designed to act as effective alternatives to traditional preservative systems or as boosters to reduce the concentration of active preservatives needed in cosmetic formulas.

  • AdvensProtect 56E (INCI: Pentylene Glycol (and) 1,2-Hexanediol (and) Ethylhexylglycerin) is specifically formulated for use in sensitive skin products.
  • AdvensProtect 56E Green is its sustainable twin, using the same blend but leveraging 100% bio-based ingredients.
  • AdvensProtect 58E (INCI: Pentylene Glycol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Ethylhexylglycerin) is suggested for formulators seeking a robust one-stop solution.
  • AdvensProtect 58E Green similarly offers the same blend but using 100% bio-based components and according to the company, it mirrors the performance of the standard version.

All the ingredients are suitable for formulations ranging from creams, lotions, shampoos, gels and foundations, to sunscreens and wet wipes; they are also suited to all skin types. In addition, they are cold-processable, clear liquids that are easy to formulate with and are temperature- and pH-independent, per the company. AdvensProtect 56E and 56E Green are recommended at 1.0-2.5% while 58E and 58E Green are suggested at 0.5-1.5%.

Certifiable Green Chemistry

Seqens emphasizes that these "Green" launches demonstrate its commitment to green chemistry. Notably, both AdvensProtect 56E Green and 58E Green are certified ISO 16128 Natural Derived with a Natural Origin Index (NOI) of 1.

By sourcing these ingredients sustainably, SEQENS provides formulators with a clear pathway to developing high-performance, eco-friendly beauty products without compromising on quality or efficacy.

Update: AdvensProtect 6 Green and 68 Green

In addition to these recent launches, late last year (2025), Seqens introduced its AdvensProtect 6 Green and 68 Green multifunctionals, also derived from sustainable sources. AdvensProtect 6 Green is a 100% biobased 1,2-hexanediol while AdvensProtect 68 Green is a 100% biobased combination of 1,2-hexanediol with caprylyl glycol.

As a moisturizing agent, AdvensProtect 6 Green also acts as a solvent. According to the company, its short lipophilic chain attaches to the lipid structures, orientating the hydrophobic part of the molecule toward the upper skin layers for better moisture retention. It is recommended for sensitive skin in applications such as masks and intimate hygiene products.

With preservative-boosting plus moisturizing properties, AdvensProtect 68 Green exhibits excellent emollient properties, per the company. It acts by reducing the surface energy and therefore the contact angle of water on the hydrophobic surfaces of the skin, for better moisture distribution. It is said to enhance the intracellular microbial penetration of preservatives.

Both ingredients are COSMOS approved, ISO 16128, NATRUE, halal and Kosher.
