NEW YORK, NY — Monaè Everett served as Lead Hairstylist for BruceGlen during Harlem’s Fashion Row at New York Fashion Week, leading the show on behalf of Teknique Agency.
Using Bask & Lather products, Everett created a sculptural braided look that paired bold runway impact with an intentional approach to moisture, scalp care and the hairline.
Bruce Glen's notion that the people who wear the brand are the "#BrightOnes"- people who embrace color, stand out and lean fully into individual expression inspired Everett's starting point for the hair direction.
THE INSPIRATION
Everett began with the idea of a rainbow, drawing from BruceGlen’s vibrant color story while translating that energy into shape and movement rather than simply adding more color. Sculptural braided loops created the silhouette, while loose ends kept the finished look playful and alive.
“A rainbow is powerful because every color gets to exist individually and still create something beautiful together. That felt connected to the #BrightOnes and to the models we were styling," says Everett.
The show also allowed Everett to work with models across a range of hair textures, a core part of her approach to runway hairstyling.
“One of the things I loved most about this show was being able to style models with so many different hair textures. Great hairstyling isn’t about forcing every person to start with the same canvas. It’s understanding the texture in front of you and knowing how to create from there," says Everett.
HOW TO GET THE LOOK
1. CONDITION + PREP
- Lightly dampen the hair, then apply Bask & Lather Leave-In Conditioner throughout the strands to add moisture, condition the hair and prepare it for styling.

3. SMOOTH

4. CREATE THE FOUNDATION
- Gather the hair into three ponytails positioned vertically down the center of the head to create a mohawk formation.
5. BRAID + SCULPT
- Braid extension hair into each ponytail. Form the braids into loops and pin them securely into place, leaving the ends loose for movement and dimension.
