The Head-turning Hairdos of the Grammys

The 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

You can never fault muscians for being a little "out there." They are performers, after all. So when the Grammys roll around, you know you'll be seeing some style choices that can best be summed up as "interesting."

From a beauty view, what's so fabulous about the Grammys is that it's sandwiched between the cookie-cutter Golden Globes and Oscars, and therefore break up any red carpet style stodginess we may be feeling during awards season.

This year at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, the daredevils of style didn't disappoint. And even a few glamouristas that aren't exactly known for overdoin' the 'do took some hairstyle chances. Here, a quick look at the out-there hair highs of the Grammys.

(Above) Beyoncé Knowles' longtime stylist Kimberly Kimble took her trademark lengthy strands and kicked them up a notch with a touch of tinsel. (Side note: Last year, the hair show circuit saw its fair share of tinsel hair extensions, like DazzleDu. I've been wondering when I might see this glitzy hair extension make its way to Hollywood.)

Rihanna's never been one to shy away from bold coifs, and her slightly off-kilter hairdo punctuates her outré hairstyle prowess. I particularly loved how her locks are purposely shellacked at an angle that opposes her Viktor & Rolf pleated gown.

Oh, Lady Gaga—how you continue to shock! After careful inspection of the songstress' neon-dipped 'do, it appears her bodacious wig sits atop a bedazzled, nude headdress. Strange, indeed.

More screaming neon! This feisty orange hue worn by Hayley Williams of Paramore isn't exactly a haircolor we see day to day—it takes true guts to don! I love how Hayley keeps the rest of her look fresh and pretty.
