Rebellious Beauty: The Soul Purpose Collection by Xiphium Salon

Xiphium Salon in Leawood, KS recently conducted a stunning spring 2014 photo shoot entitled "Soul Purpose," that emphasized rebellious beauty with four transformative looks. Says owner Vilma Subel, "Soul Purpose was created to question and redefine our individual perception on what makes us beautiful."

Vilma and her editorial team, consisting of Christina Rice, Suzanne Hertl, Samantha Keltner, and Geena Mericle, used two models for the four looks in order to illustrate the concept of an alterable persona while still maintaining one's true self. The team focused on texture - both in the hair and in the clothing - using both natural hair wigs and synthetic hair extensions to create a multitude of shapes and textures. The team was also inspired by notions of true happiness and the unique beauty of the individual, as well as the contrast between aggressive and feminine looks and the idea of authenticity as opposed to perfection as an indicator of real beauty.
