Hairstyles How To: The Textured Ponytail

Celebrity hairstylist David Stanwell recently created this textured ponytail for actress Linda Cardellini, otherwise known as Sylvia Rosen on the hit TV show, Mad Men. See his tips and product suggestions for how to re-create the perfectly tousled tail:

 

1. To begin, apply Oribe Maximista Thickening Hair Spray to damp hair.

2. Blow dry hair roughly, using a flat paddle brush until completely dry.

3. Use a 1 inch curling iron to create curls moving section by section through hair.

4. Tip head upside down and shake out the curls. Then spray Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray for added texture.

5. Use fingers as a comb to pull hair back into a hair tie.

6. Lightly pull the top section of hair out to create volume and avoid a too-tight look. 

7. Mist hairspray, such as White Sands Infinity Finishing Spray, for for added hold.
