From the side-braid to the braided updo, braids are popping up all over the red carpet!
Eva Longoria sports a side-braid to the Pre-Oscar Flamenco Party:to a fabulous fishtail braid:
STEP ONE: Separate hair into two equal sections at the back of the head. Fishtail braiding requires only two sections (not three like a classic or French braid).
STEP TWO: Start the fishtail braid by holding the right section with your right hand. Using your left hand, pick up a small chunk of hair from the outside of the left section and cross over to the inside of right section. (Hint: Try picking up hair from the area near the base of your ear. It’s important to pull sections from underneath when you cross over to get that scaly look.)
STEP THREE: Repeat on the other side: Hold the left section in your left hand. Use your right hand to pick up a half-inch of hair from the outer right section and cross it over to the inside of the left section.
STEP FOUR: Continue adding small sections and crossing them over until you reach the ends of your hair, and secure with an elastic. I like to pull on the braid a bit to loosen it up even if that means letting a few layers fall out of the braid – it gives it more of an effortless feel.
