If you've spent even a day in cosmetology school, you know the importance of proper haircare.

While this many be obvious for hairstylists, it's not always the case for clients, although that's starting to change in 2024. More clients are valuing self-care and haircare.

For many client's there's a newfound interest in scalp care, fragrance-free haircare, products that nurture natural texture and brands that are dedicated to sustainable and circular beauty. J.R.LIGGETT’S has been creating eco-conscious, all-natural, hair-care products for more than 40 years. The brand's president Jamie Miller shares her predictions for the top haircare trends for the rest of 2024.

Scalp Care

“People of all ages are interested in scalp care," shares Miller. "Scalp is skin and we must take care of it accordingly with gentle, targeted, and effective treatments that are formulated for various scalp types and skin challenges.”

J.R.LIGGETT’S Jojoba & Peppermint Formula Shampoo Bar is ideal for dry scalp as it helps to remove scaling and repairs the skin. Jojoba Oil leaves the scalp and hair follicles clean and free to function and prevents oil buildup. Peppermint Oil stimulates and promotes a healthy scalp. Miller also recommends their Tea Tree & Hemp Oil Formula Shampoo Bar for optimal scalp health.

Fragrance-Free Haircare

“We all know that it’s hard to not associate freshly washed hair with the fragrance of flowers, but chemical-laden fragrances can wreak havoc on our scalp. Perfumes and synthetic fragrances have been correlated with dry, red and flaky scalps, and even allergic contact dermatitis,” says Miller.

J.R.LIGGETT’S never adds manufactured fragrances or perfumes to their products; however, some of their bars have natural fragrances, which are derived from pure, essential oils, leaving hair soft, healthy and smelling clean.

Natural Texture

“We’re going to continue to see people embracing their natural hair texture with simpler, nourishing haircare routines. Look for products that will enhance your texture, featuring all-natural ingredients that will moisturize and hydrate your hair. Essential oils are great for giving textured hair a boost," Miller adds.

Miller recommends their Moisturizing Formula and Virgin Coconut & Argan Oil Formula shampoo bars. Argan oil hydrates hair and is outstanding for uncontrollable, curly and unmanageable hair. It gives life to dry hair and restores smoothness, luster and shine. Coconut Oil contains moisture as well as Vitamin E, which enhances the absorption of other natural oils into the hair and scalp.

Transparency & Sustainability

Sixty four percent of shoppers say that sustainability is very important when considering the purchase of a beauty product. They are interested in sustainable packaging and ingredients, and they want formulas that are free of harmful chemicals.

“I’ve noticed that Gen Z, in particular, is leading this trend; they are a very conscious and environmentally-aware demographic. They want transparency from the brands they purchase, and they seek out products that are vegan, cruelty-free, feature clean ingredients, and a circular footprint," Miller shares.

As an eco-brand from its inception, J.R.LIGGETT’S is committed to crafting zero waste, recyclable products that reduce single-use plastic waste.
