Bumble and bumble’s Laurent Phillippon fashions far-out styles for Heatherette’s Oz.
Designer: Heatherette
Products: Bumble and bumble
We’re so not in Kansas anymore! Rather, we’re tripping down the yellow brick road in an Oz reimagined by club kids turned fashion designers Richie Rich and Travor Rains, the duo behind Heatherette. In this Oz, trans-beauty Amanda Lepore plays Glinda the Good Witch, complete with bombastic blonde curls, while redhead Lydia Hearst takes on the role of dotty Dorothy with a sky-high bouf-fant roll and shimmering ringlet ponytails. The wizard behind the Oz-some hairstyles? Bumble and bumble’s maestro of offbeat coifs, Laurent Phillippon.
Yet not all of Heatherette’s hairdos were wild. There were some subdued styles—with added flair, of course. Phillippon’s self-described “Brillo pad-esque hairnets” are snugly fitted over many models’ slicked-back strands, which “create a shiny, metallic look for the hair,” he says. For others, Phillippon crafts super-glossed, tight, high buns that continue the ultra-shine trend.
The glossiest hair of all, however, is found on Dorothy. “This style makes her a uniquely modern fantasy character,” Phillippon says. Who needs Kansas when Oz looks so good?
