2024 is here and so are new hair color trends!

Hair color experts from R+Co’s R+COLOR Collective: Richy Kandasamy, Cameron Kepford and Marwa Bashir and Chase Kusero, Celebrity Colorist and Co-Founder of IGK weigh in on all the shades that will be hot for the new year and what to ask for in the salon to bring those looks to life on your locks.

High Contrast Color Blocking

Think '90s, utilizing panels of both light and dark colors throughout the hair. For example, ask in the salon for R+COLOR’s shade Brown Bunny + Ink Pot from the occipital (back of the head) downwards. Add bright blonde on the top using heavy foiling and R+COLOR’s CHAIRLIFT Powder Lightener or SNOWFALL Ammonia Free Powder Lightener or bleach and tone using a crème lightener. - Cameron Kepford (@cameronkepford), Colorist and R+COLOR Collective Member

If you’re brunette or have a darker blonde hair, and you’re looking to add color blocking trend looks like money-pieces or peek-a-boo pieces with a pop of winter blonde, try our NEW Color Bright One-Step-Bleach and Color Kits in shade Ice Breaker. - Chase Kusero (@chasehair), Co-founder of IGK Hair Care

Stay Golden

I think the rise of warmer, more sun-kissed hair is on the rise. The Cowboy Copper had its moment, and I think the movement into a more golden era is on the horizon. Embracing the shine and health of the hair for blondes is on the horizon. I love R+COLOR’s STELLAR shade Soothsayer. It reflects colors of gold and violet, which can be added to other color formulas or used on its own to create a natural, shiny champagne hue. - Marwa Bashir (@marwabashirhair), Colorist and R+COLOR Collective Member

In the salon my clients are asking for lower-maintenance blonde shades that feel softer and more golden, versus a bright platinum. These shades are more natural and allow clients to go longer between visits. This easy-going style can also be achieved at home IGK’s Permanent Color Kit in “Out in Malibu.” For those wanting to keep current blonde color fresh, reach for IGK’s Color Depositing Masks to refresh and extend the life of your current shade. - Chase Kusero (@chasehair), Co-founder of IGK Hair Care

The characteristics of trending blonde shades is a mix of natural and lived-in blonde. For example (Seamless or baby-lights) are a super natural blended highlight look that mimic the natural sun-kissed look. Baby lights involve very fine, delicate highlights for a soft, natural effect it’s like you were born with the blonde color. - Richy Kandasamy (@richykanda), Vice President Color Development and R+COLOR Collective Member

Red Hot

Captivating seasonal reds and coppers like R+COLOR shades Valentine, Fox, Penny Lane and Clementine, this rich palette of Valentine reds and coppers feels warm and sophisticated for a classic autumn/winter look that can carry over into the warmer seasons. These hair color hues can be traditional or directional. Be prepared for regular touch-ups and invest in color-safe shampoos and conditioners. I recommend R+Co’s GEMSTONE Color Shampoo and Conditioner. - Richy Kandasamy (@richykanda), Vice President Color Development and R+COLOR Collective Member
