Q&A:
Beauty Launchpad (BLP): What is a fun fact about you?
Alyssa Jubie (AJ): I love to read! It’s become an important part of my life and is something I love to do during my free time.
BLP: How did you get your start in the industry?
AJ: From a young age, beauty has always been my true passion. Though I explored other paths for years, something deep inside kept calling me back. Eventually, I decided to follow my heart, enrolled in cosmetology school and the rest, as they say, is history.
BLP: Who is someone you consider a mentor/role model in the industry?
AJ: There are a handful of stylists who have been an incredible inspiration to me in my cosmetology journey. Their dedication to the craft, business acumen and commitment to creating a welcoming and professional environment have shown me what it takes to succeed in this industry. They’ve taught me the importance of not only perfecting my technical skills, but also building strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
BLP: What is your proudest achievement in the industry thus far?
AJ: My proudest achievement so far has been launching my salon suite within the first year of my career. Building a loyal clientele filled with incredible people who truly appreciate me and my work has been beyond rewarding. It’s these connections and the joy of transforming lives through beauty that makes every day feel less like a job and more like a passion.
BLP: What is your favorite piece of advice you’ve been given by a fellow industry/hair pro?
AJ: The best advice I ever received was the importance of staying true to myself, no matter what challenges I faced. They reminded me that no setback should ever dim the passion I have for hair and to always embrace my authentic self along the way.
BLP: What is a hair tip/technique you’ve learned that has helped you be more efficient/successful behind the chair?
AJ: One of the most valuable tips I received for success was the importance of always having a hair consultation before each appointment. Whether it’s a new client or someone I’ve had for years, it ensures that my clients and I are on the same page, allowing me to fully understand their vision and deliver the dream hair they’ve always wanted.
BLP: What is your favorite hair trend currently?
AJ: My favorite hair trend is the "lived-in" look. It’s all about effortless beauty, giving clients the freedom to go longer between appointments while still rocking a seamless, natural blend as their hair grows.
BLP: Who or what inspires your work?
AJ: What truly inspires me is the incredible talent around me in the beauty industry. Every person brings their own unique skills and strengths to the table, creating a constant flow of creativity and innovation. Their passion and expertise push me to keep learning, growing and striving to be better every day.
BLP: What changes would you like to see in the industry to help hair pros continue to grow and thrive?
AJ: One change I’d love to see in the industry is better access to continued education after cosmetology school. Specifically, more training on the financial side of the business. Many stylists venture into self-employment, but often lack the resources and knowledge to manage their finances effectively. Providing more education in this area would empower professionals to succeed not only creatively, but also financially.
BLP: What is a career goal you have for yourself?
AJ: A future goal for my career is to become an educator. I dream of traveling and sharing the lessons and experiences that have shaped my journey with aspiring stylists. By doing so, I hope to contribute to the growth of the industry, empowering a new generation of skilled, confident professionals who are ready to make their mark.
