Jenna Ortega is making waves, co-starring in Sabrina Carpenter's music video for her new single "Taste" off of "Short n' Sweet" and promoting her new film "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice." To make sure she looks radiant, hairstylist Bobby Eliot (@bobbyeliot) created gorgeous hair looks for Ortega using extensions from The Hair Shop, and we are sharing tutorials for two of her recent appearances.
Glamourous Waves in the "Taste" MV
In the music video for "Taste" off of Sabrina Carpenter's new album "Short n' Sweet," Carpenter is out for blood and vengeance as she pursues her ex-lover's new girlfriend, played by Ortega. The music video takes inspiration from several horror films, such as "Ginger Snaps," "Kill Bill: Volume 1," "Psycho" and more.
To create Ortega's look in the music video, Eliot took inspiration from the 1992 film "Death Becomes Her," starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn.
I started off by blow drying Jenna’s hair with a round brush for full volume, focusing on lots of root lift.
After letting the hair cool and set, I used a brush to brush out the set and sculpt the hair.
Deconstructed Knot for Venice Film Festival
After her success in "Wednesday" on Netflix, it's no surprise Ortega was casted in the new Beetlejuice film. She plays Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Winona Ryder's Lydia Deetz.
To promote the film, Ortega attended the Venice Film Festival, with Eliot creating her hair look for the event.
"Jenna is wearing a custom Dior dress, and we wanted the hair to feel effortless. We decided on having the hair swept up in a loose, deconstructed low knot," Eliot shares.
Using a round brush, I blow dried the hair for maximum shine and root lift.
I then used a several of The Hair Shop Skinny Clip-Ins for added volume and applied them in the back sections of Jenna’s hair.
Using a flat iron, I created a texture to give the hair more of an effortless modern feel.
Next, I swept up the hair loosely pulling out pieces to give the hair an undone feel.
